1 | "Butcher then engineer. Engineering company with about ten employees. A hard man, who wouldn't pay his children the going rate, so they left. Walter remained, and hence inherited all. Whether his father was the Ludwig Scheu or there was another generation in between is not sure". - KS (The line is now clearly not directly from Ludwig - the exact relationship is still unclear - Pete Shew) "I also remember my dad telling me about his dad William, being an extraordinarily lucky chap. Aparently, one time he had bandaged eyes. He just happened to be walking through the hall way of the house when one of the children screamed as it fell over the top banister - direction floorwards. William heard the scream, and put his arms out to catch the infant "blind". Miraculously No-one was hurt. On another ocasion he was sinking or building a well. you have to dig the hole, get in it and line the hole with bricks as you go down. After going down some way, the brick work collapsed inwards, but William was not hit by a single brick" Tony Shew From rear of photo "Known as William Shew since August 7 1914" | Scheu, William (I63)

7 | (Research): Hi Pete, There is a tree up on Ancestry.com with details of the Drings. The tree starts with : ID: I5952 Name: John DRING Surname: DRING Given Name: John Sex: M Birth: BEF 1657 1 Burial: 8 May 1731 St Mary Magdalene,Warboys,Huntingdonshire 2 3 Note: The eariest baptism we have for a child of John DRING is August 1693 which is sixteen months after he married Joanne HILLS. However, this first child, and four later ones are all shown with the mother as Mary. The following eight children have Joane shown as their mother. Jim BECK and John ROWELL have both suggested that all the children had the one mother, Joane, and that would seem to be the case, given the date of the John/Joane marriage. However, why was Mary shown as the mother for the earlier children? Angela EDMONDS has found a John DRING/Mary SMITH marriage in 1682 in All Saints, Huntingdonshire. There are, however, no children baptised in that church for these parents. It could be that John was married to this Mary, they went to Warboys where they lived for up to ten years, and because the Warboys clerk was used to "John and Mary" he put the incorrect name in the baptism register for the children of "John and Joane". For the time being John is shown as marrying three time, but it is obvious that more research is required. Marriage 1 Mary SMITH b: ABT 1662 in of Warboys, Hunts, England Married: 1682 in All Saints,Huntingdon,Huntingdonshire Marriage 2 Joane HILLS b: ABT 1672 Married: 14 Apr 1692 in St Mary Magdalene,Warboys,Huntingdonshi Children Mary DRING John DRING Thomas DRING Oliver DRING William DRING Edward DRING William DRING Elizabeth DRING Alice DRING Marriage 3 Elizabeth WOMERSLEY b: ABT 1705 in of Warboys, Hunts, England Married: 1725 in Bluntisham cum Earith,Huntingdonshire Ruth | Dring, John (I1735)
